idsgn

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to meet Josh Smith, one half of the creative duo behind the blog, idsgn.

idsgn is a fantastic blog that focuses on design, branding and marketing.  I think what makes them unique among all the design blogs out there, is that they have a strong point of view about the content they feature.  As a result, a dialogue is created between their readers and it makes for a more interesting and inspiring read.  Spend sometime on their site and get involved in the conversation.

Seriously, Leica?   Does it get anymore gorgeous than this?   This classic M7 35mm gets the special treatment with a silver chrome finish and thanks to Hermes, a choice of either orange or tan calfskin leather.   Orange please!  This beauty can be delivered to your doorstep in a linen-covered, silk-lined box for a mere £8,550 (about $14,250).

Fashion’s Night out

Posted: August 28th, 2009 | Author: Tara | Filed under: fashion, retail | Tags: , , | View Comments

On Septmeber 10th, 13 countries will celebrate Fashion’s Night Out, a global initiative to promote retail and celebrate fashion.  This year, they created a great PSA which talks about all the benefits the fashion industry brings to New York City. “Next only to finance, fashion is the second-largest sector of industry in New York City—the headquarters of more than 800 fashion companies employing 175,000 people and generating $10 billion in total wages.”

They have also decided that all proceeds from the sale of the official Fashion’s Night Out T-shirt will  be donated to the National September 11 Memorial & Museum.

They’ve planned some great events and some really exciting collaborations.

What I’m looking forward to:

Rag and Bone will turn their store into a full Irish pub complete with sawdust floors and an Irish band

Vera Wang is collaborating with StudioBooth!

BAND OF OUTSIDERS is partnering up with Opening Ceremony.  The THAI TIE TRUCK  will sell Band of Outsiders ties made exclusively for the evening, as well as a special thai-inspired dessert prepared by Christina Tosi of Momofuku that you can only get with your purchase of one of the ties

Kiki de Montparnasse will have champagne and an erotic photo booth.

Kirna Zabête will have Narciso Rodriguez, Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler, Thakoon Panichgul, Jason Wu, and Peter Som on hand to debut their exclusive items for Kirna Zabête:  Narciso Rodriguez photo collages, Proenza Schouler print tote bags, Thakoon one-of-a-kind dresses, Jason Wu fall 2009 fashion sketches and Peter Som’s limited-edition aprons.

Know Thy Goode Neighbor

Know Thy Goode Neighbor from littleredbike on Vimeo.

The last couple of weeks I’ve been working on a project.  A big project; a dream project.  My sister and I are applying to  be Murphy-Goode’s Wine Country Lifestyle Correspondent.   Murphy Goode is a family run vineyard in Sonoma County that is looking for a “lifestyle correspondent” who knows how to navigate Facebook, Twitter, blogs, and social media to tell the world about their wines and the Sonoma County Wine Country.   We thought it would be great to tackle the challenge as sisters.  It’s a six month project that would allow us to move to Sonoma and do what we love and do best: eat, drink, blog, learn and laugh.

The biggest part of the application is a video, which got posted two nights ago along with the other 450 people who have made it this far.   The voting process ends in FOUR days.

That’s where YOU come in.  We need your vote.  We need your friends vote.  We need your fans votes. We need your coworkers votes.  We need the worlds vote.

So if you could kindly take a second and vote for our submission we will be forever grateful.  The folks at Murphy-Goode have made the process really easy.

Please watch our video here:

Thanks to all of you for helping us make one of dreams come true.  Seriously.

In addition to being a talented artist, Jim created Outstanding in the Field, a world-wide traveling dinner feast inspired by his “farmer dinners” which took place during the mid 1990s at Gabriella Café in Santa Cruz .  At these dinners, Jim would invite local farmers to preside over special meals featuring their just-picked harvest. Lucky for us, these dinners have evolved into dinner parties that take place in any thing from a sea cove to a refurbished barn or a stately museum.

After a tour of the site where the dinner is being held, everyone sits together, farmers, winemakers and adventurous food lovers to experience,  laugh and mostly, honor the committed people whose hard work brings the love and nourishment to the table.  Sounds like a perfect evening to me…

I’ve already got my tickets to the dinner being held at Queens Farm with guest chef Bill Telepan of Telepan restaurant. Who wants to join?
