Good Work: Paperfinger March 30, 2009

paperfinger

Our dear friend Bryn Chernoff is the master behind Paperfinger .  She was kind enough to do the calligraphy on nearly all the paper elements for our wedding, from our invitations to our escort cards and even our guest book.  Recently, Style Me Pretty,  a must see for all brides to be, did a recap of our wedding and gave Bryn the credit she deserves for her amazing and unique work.

antler

I recently met the fine folks over at Red Antler, a strategic consulting group.  They’re a talented team and have worked on projects such as the email newsletter The Tasting Table and the upcoming conference 99% with Behance and our friend Tim Yu at Cool Hunting.

Manabu Ikeda March 20, 2009

wave

Quite honestly, I wasn’t as impressed as I have been in past years with The Armory Show.  It lacked something for me this year; there was a desperation in the air that oddly made what is already an aloof industry even more so.  However, I did become particulary enarmoured with the work of  Manabu Ikeda.    Each of this pieces are incredibly intricate and can take up to two years to complete. When seen in person, they become visceral as one begins to explore all of the stories created within each piece. One of my favorites pieces is History of Rise and Fall.

Manabu Ikeda. is represented by the  Mizuma Art Gallery in Tokyo, Japan.

Old News March 10, 2009

oldnews

The other day we bumped into my friend Michael Mandiberg while walking through Chelsea.  Michael and I went to high school together and while we have both been in NYC for a number of years, we only occasionally see each other.  When we ran into him he had just finished dropping off his latest addition to the show up at Postmaster’s gallery.  He is currently a Senior Fellow at Eyebeam and is working on some really fascinating projects.  Check out the show and spend some time exploring his work.

The Collector’s Guide to Emerging Art Photography March 5, 2009

The fine folks at Humble Arts Foundation have recently published The Collector’s Guide to Emerging Art Photography, which features one of Dan’s images.  “The Collector’s Guide is an invite only, unique 180–page source book distributed to collectors, art dealers, gallery directors, photo editors, museum professionals, and independent curators. Published biennially, The Collector’s Guide aims to further Humble’s mission by bridging the gap between ambitious early-career photographers and often-unapproachable photography professionals and art institutions.”

We were lucky enough to score two copies of it at this year’s  and they are beautifully designed and contain some amazing photographers including Timothy Briner, Brian Berman and Carlo Van de Roer.

You can pick up a copy here.
